DISABLE WELFARE TRUST OF INDIA

Introduction:

  • The Disable Welfare Trust of India is an NGO based in Surat working for the welfare of the differently able beneficiaries since 1997. The Trust offers a basket of services like education, training & rehabilitation to the physically challenged beneficiaries. The Trust runs a School up to 12th Standard, a BCA college, ITI, a hostel, a physiotherapy centre, a prosthesis centre, a skill development centre & a hospital wherein corrective surgeries are conducted on the physically challenged. The Trust also provides free of cost calipers, Jaipur foot, wheel chairs, tricycles & artificial limbs to needy beneficiaries. All the services provided to the beneficiaries by the Trust are free of cost.
  • The school educates nearly 400 children where in who are physically handicapped most of whom hail from the slums and are from the low income strata of the society. The Trust receives partial grant from the Govt of Gujarat for their Primary, Secondary & Higher Secondary Teachers while all the other expenses are borne by the Trust. The B.C.A College run by the Trust was established in 2014 and  is a self finance college where no fees are charged from the physically challenged children & all the salary & recurring expenses are borne by the Trust. 
  • The student pass outs from the institutions have pursued their studies in various streams and have become Doctors, Engineers, Dentists, Scientist and are living a life full of dignity in the mainstream society. The Trust has been instrumental in creating an impact in the lives of nearly 29000 beneficiaries in the past 25 years of its establishment. The Trust has also received various awards & accolades from the Government & the President of the Trust is also a proud recipient of the prestigious Padmashri award bestowed upon him in the year 2011.
